I can remember what our headmaster said to us schoolkids in morning assembly many years ago. The date must have been 27th September 1972.
He said something like ‘Today is a special date because it is palindromic – the numbers 27 9 1972 are the same when read backwards. This is something that will not happen again until 18th September 1981.”
There have been a few more such dates since then and another one is coming up on 1st October 2011. Diarize this date and make a note to quiz your friends with this piece of trivia.
Interesting. Of course it is palindromic if you read the date in British format, i.e., 1102011. In American format it would be 1012011.
